Concept

Greetings Cultists. Winter is dying again at the time of writing this and soon spring will crawl out of the grave once more. So why not end this chilling season with a movie where the cold plays a big part?

Wind Chill is about a female student who hitches a ride with a male student heading to Delaware for the holidays, She has an antisocial and rude temper and he s hiding something. All doesn't go too well when he suddenly turns away from the highway and heads down 'Route 606'. She freaks out as he promises innocence that it is a short cut. 

If this wasn't bad enough they end up being ran off the road by an unruly driver, now stuck in the snow with a guy who isn't all he seems they are not alone. As strange figures walk past the car, repeating their final moments or most convicting in life they are freezing and stranded overnight in this hostile environment. Can they survive the night and solve the mystery of Route 606's past? Or will they succumb to the numb death?

Review

This is why Horrors Hidden Gems exists. Because this film hasn't been credited with the amount of praise and respect it deserves. It is a harrowing movie, the cold itself is a big part of the film and everything else is an almost impossible obstacle to survive. It is a great film to watch and I enjoyed how un-apologetically creepy it was at some points. The temperature isn't the only killer but goddamn is it the most merciless.

The film came out to butchered mixed reviews, either average or less. No. Wind Chill is a clever little film with great visuals and an intriguing plot concept. 
Filmed at the University of British Columbia near Vancouver and near Peachland, British Columbia this film is fantastic with its use of location.

In short Wind Chill was indeed a Hidden Gem, and an incredibly underrated and enjoyable one at that. Get warmed up, put this film on and well...chill.

Concept

Jamie Ashen is thrown into his own personal hell from the very start when a mysterious package arrives. When he and his girlfriend open it they find a very creepy doll. There is no clue as to where it cam from except a small card that states 'my name is Billy'. James runs out for some food and when he returns his love is found murdered without her tongue.

  Convinced the doll did it somehow he then proceeds to go visit his estranged father and discovers a terrible secret. A terrible secret the townsfolk have kept for many many years. 

 Being the prime suspect hot on his trails is a detective who is certain Jamie is the murderer and is using Billy as a scapegoat. Can Jamie solve the mystery and somehow prove to police that Billy did it? An excellently tense and creepy film. There is not much I can say without spoiling the ending. Go watch it...now!

Review

I love this underrated film. It didn't score well on sites such as Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic but forget what the critics say listen to what a fan says; this film is awesome. It's got great atmosphere with it as well as a compelling story with highly tense scenes and a thought out backstory.

It has an amazing twist ending.  Don't spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't seen it please. From the creators of the SAW franchise I beg you to seek this out and please watch it at least just the once. 

I watched this film in my teen years when friends came round for the night, we'd sit in the dark watching films and this has a great nostalgic feeling for me. if you get the opportunity to see this film I highly recommend watching it...now!
