Continuing on from the previous films Charles Lee Ray is revived as Chucky once again... a mere month after the effects of the previous film. He is revived by his former girlfriend Tiffany and brought back to life by ritual. A ritual that involves killing a goth gruesomely.
Hurrah Chucky is alive and Tiffany can finally be with her lover again, well until she discovers the ring she kept hold onto the night he died (the first time) wasn't for her. The ring itself was stolen and Chucky didn't have it in her interests to marry her. Tiffany locks him up, whereas as revenge he kills her and using a ritual, places Tiffany's body into a doll.
And now there's two serial killers trapped inside the bodies of dolls, and once again Chucky needs the amulet on his human body to turn... well human. And Tiffany has to go with him to return to natural form. Can these two lovebirds get along? Or will they tear apart...literally?
Review
There's a lot of ignorance when it comes to the Child's Play franchise, especially here in the UK when Child's Play 3 was put to blame in inspiring the murder of James Bulger, a toddler calmly snatched away from a shopping mall from Jon Venables and his friend Robert Thompson. It caused massive outrage as the murderers were just 10 years old. Whether Child's Play was just a blame or had significant factors with the tragedy is up for debate.
This film has a huge goth rock element to it, the entire film is gothic, with a soundtrack including Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Slayer, Coal Chamber and Judas Priest there's a huge metal influence on this film. The film even looks naturally darker compared to previous instalments.
This is a slasher comedy film, you will chuckle (no pun intented). There's a lot of mixed views on this film due to the added comedy and the change in tone, but it as since become a cult favourite. For you horror novices, this is a gift for you. Enjoy it as much as I do.
Keep a lookout as I look into the next instalment of this franchise... Son of Chucky!
